Tropicality

A Sunday in the park.
Fairchild Tropical Botanical Garden's Ramble.

The Wishing Tree - courtesy of Yoko Ono nonetheless.

Touching.

Images

The Second City.

Marilyn in Chicago. This was a surprise.

Rick Bayless, can I be your wife?
The best (BEST!) thing I have ever eaten.
From Rick's xoco Mexican street food restaurant.
I waited 40 mins for it. I would wait all day for that again.
Can't tell you how delicious. Can't.
Seriously, who is he married to? I want to be Mrs Bayless.

The Arts Institute.

Ok. So the architecture is sublime and the food exquisite.
Then you bring me the Arts Institute.
Heaven is Chicago.

I can't tell you how amazing this is in real life.
Character etched in stone.

To see a classic, face to face. Pretty great.

This guy is part of a larger painting with a huge cultural meaning.
The detail, amazing.
Symbolism? Yes, I would like some.

For the deeply morbid side of me,
the side that endlessly wrote "oblivion" in my notebooks, I adore this.
The hand of death.

Counterpointed with this.

Which, in turn, is counterpointed with this.

And then this lady.

My kind of town

Architectural wow is just one of the Second City's many beauties.

Trump trumps 'em all. Well, nearly.

Incredible shapes and textures everywhere.
On a stunningly sunny crisp autumn day.

And this, the Tribune Tower, was the best.
It has relics from other famous buildings embedded in to its edifice.
If only we could do the same.

Fallin' apple

For once, a work trip to NYC that actually gave me time to play.
Some pics from the Apple as it starts to fall.

Saturday morning caffeine fueling and the BEST coffee since leaving NZ.
Thank you Soho and Ground Control cafe. Amazing.

Blah blah silly shot of me - actually in flats (shop smart mode).
It was a successful day - this boutique French perfume (with a mini version that has a leather exterior and my initials embossed - class), shoes, Chrissy pressies, lots and lots of earrings and a cream lace pencil skirt that might just be too cool for school.

Just OK?
Oh no, we're more than that.

All that spectacular retail performance deserved a glass of prosecco
on the way to the airport.

Exhibits A and B.
The blue ones are the best. A bit of a splurge. And entirely impractical. Perfect.
